13 Dec The Medical Arts Dental 2nd Annual Warm and Cozy Collection Drive
The Medical Arts Dental team is looking for donations of winter outwear for the 2 nd Annual “Warm and Cozy Coat Drive” this year. This can come in the form of new or gently-used winter outerwear including coats, sweaters, gloves, hats, scarves, snow pants and boots for both adults and children. Donations will go towards local elementary schools and shelters. Last year’s “Warm and Cozy Coat Drive” collections were donated to Discovery Elementary School.
The “Warm and Cozy” winter outwear drive began as a desire to help and contribute to the community. In speaking with patients who work in the St. Cloud school district and social work, the Medical Arts Dental team learned that many families in the St. Cloud community are not able to afford winter weather appropriate clothing. With average Minnesota winter temperatures regularly plummeting to dangerously low levels, increasing the risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and other freezing cold winter weather hazards, the Medical Arts Dental team saw a chance to make a big difference in the community.
The Medical Arts Team were also inspired by a news item several years ago in which a student from the Twin Cities wore a beach towel as a coat on a day that dipped well below 20-degrees because he lacked a winter coat. This story stuck with the team and helped inspire them to develop the coat drive.
This year, the Medical Arts Dental team is aiming to double their donations from last year.
